WebpageFX makes list of top SEO companies

A fledgling Carlisle firm has vaulted onto a list of the Top 30 organic optimization companies compiled by Topseos.com. Philadelphia's SEER Interactive placed 29th on the list. 

WebpageFX was ranked 14th on the June list of firms from North America, the United Kingdom, Italy and India. The ten-person firm, headquartered in the  Capital Region Economic Development Corporation's Murata Business Center, says its revenue, though still under $1 million annually, has grown 500 percent  in its first three years.   

"A lot of our competitors throw up meta tags and say 'We're done,'" says the firm's executive vice president, Karie Shearer. "We keep working with clients, and we have a 98 percent satisfaction rate, which is rare."  The Topseo rankings weighed pricing, number of employees, and revenues, as well as client retention.

WebpageFX's 2008 hiring of Leona Griffin, formerly with Get Updated Internet Marketing, gained the firm a 14-year veteran in the relatively new field. Two other new hires have joined the firm since January. Of more than 200 clients, Shearer says that only 25 percent are based in central Pennsylvania, with a "huge foothold" in  the Baltimore-Washington region. Major clients include Cleveland Brothers Equipment, Penn National Gaming, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, and NorthropGrumman.

Shearer says the firm will remain in the Murata incubator for two or three years. "We get a lot of support here," she notes.
