Description
Numerous researchers within the ITN community work on catalysis. This can include developing active site compounds e.g. the inorganic platinum/palladium mix or the specific portion of an enzyme which produces the reaction in organic catalysts. It can also include study of substrates and coating options. And it can include measurement and evaluation methods which will confirm the performance level, quantify the output components, analyze for degradation, and assess the apparatus in part and whole.
We plan to bring a group of ITN catalyst specialists together in a casual setting to talk about their work and its commercial possibilities. The structure for the gathering is informal, topical, and by invitation [with colleagues working in the field welcome]. There is no need for PowerPoints, posters, or extensive preparation – the purpose is faculty interaction, information, and inspiration. We hope to see collaborations arising from these events and, through it all, increase the funding and project opportunities in our region. We are developing forums on other subjects as well – the Marcellus Shale water issues and nanotechnology coming first to mind.
